Wondering whether your PC will be able to run Counter Strike 2? Here’s everything we know about the Counter Strike 2 System Requirements.

Counter-Strike 2 had a very successful launch in late 2023. The game has several new features and quality of life improvements and over time has had vast performance improvements thanks to Valve. That said, you can't skimp out on the PC if you're hoping for the best performance.

CS2 isn't a draining game when it comes to your system, but if you want the best experience you'll need to make sure your PC is up to scratch. Here's a dive into the system requirements for CS2.

According to the official CS2 Steam page, these are the minimum system requirements for the game on PC:

CS2 system requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11
    • CS2 can be played on Linux, but is not available on Mac OS.
  • Processor: At least 4 hardware CPU threads: Intel i5 750 or higher
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Video card must have 1 GB of VRAM or more. Must be DirectX 11-compatible with support for Shader Model 5.0
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 85 GB available space

Note: When downloading additional workshop items or maps, expect the total game file to be larger than 85 GB. We recommend clearing at least 100 GB for CS2.

How important is a good PC for CS2?

In general, you can expect most PCs built in the past 5-7 years to be able to run CS2, but individual performance can be vastly improved with a better PC and a higher refresh rate monitor.

Professional CS2 players often use 240Hz to 360Hz monitors with the latest AMD CPU and NVIDIA GPU to extract the best performance possible. Unless you're aiming for the skies and wanting to go pro in CS2, be sure your constant FPS is at least matching your monitor's refresh rate.

Despite the massive graphic overhaul and high-quality VFX, Smoke physics as well as some upgrades to CS:GO skins, expect CS2 to run on most computers from the last decade comfortably.
