Power Toads at The War Within WoW AWC Cup 1 NA

After duking it out against Mentally AFK and going 3-2 in Round 1, Power Toads went 3-1 against Liquid in the quarterfinal. Although they stumbled and went 0-3 loss after facing Welcome to the Jung in the semifinal, they quickly leapt back to the top. Power Toads defeated F Tier 3-1 in the elimination bracket. This advanced them to the final for a revenge match against Welcome to the Jung.

At first, it looked as if Welcome to the Jung had it in the bag. The team proved their strength the entire weekend by dominating the upper bracket 3-0. This trend seemed to continue in the final as Welcome to the Jung then defeated Power Toads in Nagrand Arena, Hook Point, and Ashamane's Fall. However, Power Toads didn't give up in Tiger's Peak. Instead, they fought back to prevent a clean sweep.

After halting Welcome to the Jung's perfect run in the upper bracket, Power Toads gained some momentum. In Game 5, they secured a point in Enigma Crucible — not a typical arena in competitive play. Things looked a bit dire near the start of this game with Tuna losing a lot of health, but his clutch play stopped the bleeding. Later, Axtin used Skull Bash on Prev to take Enigma Crucible.

Power Toads continued to live up to their name as they powered through Dalaran Sewers next before the final showdown in Black Rook Hold. Check out the team's winning moment below!

With this victory, Power Toads earned 120 points. Meanwhile, Welcome to the Jung and F Tier earned 100 and 80 points respectively.

Tuna talks reverse sweep at WoW AWC The War Within Cup 1

Tuna sat down with WoW Esports' broadcast talent for an interview after this win. He acknowledged how Welcome to the Jung swept his team earlier in the upper bracket. However, this only inspired Power Toads to try out the Feral Druid, Mage, and Paladin (FMP) composition. Ultimately, FMP led them to victory in the revenge match.

"That was insane. We went in, we got smoked by them earlier, and we tried everything, and we went FMPal, and it just worked out," Tuna said. "We've played it a couple times. It's not like our main comp or anything. We played it in the series before. It felt good. We lost every other comp to these guys, so we tried it, and it worked out."

The player continued, noting that he didn't expect to win. "[I] didn't think we were going to win. We didn't have the Warlock ready, we don't have a sub Rogue, I'm a Druid main. A lot of people roasted me for spamming my Druid, so I played some different healers this time, and it worked out."

Tuna shared his thoughts on fighting alongside Axtin as well. For context, the latter player was a late addition to the roster since he joined just before the start of the season.

"I played with Axtin forever, and I've been wanting to play with him. He's been nervous to compete. [I] finally got him to play, and it paid off for sure. He did awesome today, and [the] same [goes] with everybody else on my team," Tuna said. "Dazed called that bop on the Smoke Bomb at the end. Kubzy left these guys to play with us and everything, so I just gotta shout out my whole team for sure."

That's all for now. The Cup 2 broadcast will kick off on Oct. 4. Stick around on esports.gg for more news and updates!
