G2 vs EDward Gaming

The G2 vs EDward Gaming match was the Upper Bracket Final match. At stake was a place in the Grand Finals, where they would be the top two in the first International event of the year. With Lotus as the first map, G2 started strong with a 7-5 first half score.

EDward Gaming started strong in the first map, where they had a dominant showing. However, T1 had some impeccable plays through Bind, including winning both the pistol rounds. No other team has been able to take both the pistols from EDward Gaming at Bangkok. After the dominating performance by EDG throughout the group stage, it is refreshing to see how T1 put forth their best foot forward.

JAWGEMO on his Yoru was the X factor for G2, constantly getting into advantageous positions to ensure G2 gets a victory. The second half went very much in the same direction as the first and G2 had a one map lead over EDward Gaming.

The second game saw EDG run ahead with a slight lead in the early parts of the game. But G2 bounced back limiting EDG to just a few rounds and almost stagnating their gameplay.

T1 is a relatively new roster, and its performance has only improved since the Pacific Kickoff. The early stages of Pacific Kickoff saw the team be quite indecisive in the way they approach their games. The back and forth and lack of executive decision-making meant T1 would often lose crucial advantages in the long run.

T1 came into this tournament with a massive disadvantage with fans rating the team as the eighth favorite team. There are a total of eight teams in this tournament. But with this Upper Bracket semifinals appearance, T1 are one match away from securing a top four placement.

Ultimately, despite T1 being at a huge advantage right up until the very end, EDward Gaming managed to secure the victory. They are in the upper bracket finals, while T1 have their last chance in the lower bracket semifinals.

Previews

EDward Gaming vs T1 esports

After several days of intense competition, EDward Gaming has come out on top. The team won both of its matches, one against Team Liquid and the other a 2-1 victory over G2 esports. The other teams that made it to the playoffs include Team Vitality (2-0), while G2 and T1 had two victories and one loss each.

The matchups for the Playoffs will see EDward Gaming go up against T1 esports. The two teams haven't played against each other so far in this tournament. T1 secured their victory over DRX to qualify for the playoffs.

Vitality vs G2 Esports

The other playoffs match will see Team Vitality take on G2 esports. G2's performance in this tournament saw them lose to EDG, but their remaining two matches were 2-0 victories (against Trace and Team Liquid).

G2 has been quite aggressive although they have relied heavily on their aim. Their victory against Team Liquid relied more on Team Liquid making mistakes than the other way round. Either ways, they got their victory, which makes them a potential dark horse in the playoffs.
