Northwood University players took home the gold at this year’s Red Bull Campus Clutch World Final! They made collegiate Valorant esports history.

Northwood University wins Red Bull Campus Clutch World Final

After making history in the 5-0 flawless sweeps that happened on the first day of the collegiate Valorant esports event, Northwood University went on to best Czech Republic's team in the quarterfinals.

When the semifinals came about with o7 from Canada, OBK from Macedonia, and black team from Poland, Northwood University players continued to dominate the competition. Northwood University defeated Macedonia's OBK 2-0 before duking it out against o7 from Canada. When it all came down to the final, the team went 3-1 and took home the gold!

The players celebrated with each other at the Pacaembú Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil and on Twitter. Dark3st complimented his team and said that he had no doubt in his mind that Northwood University would win the tournament.

Team USA and collegiate Valorant esports

Over 300 universities competed in this year's Red Bull Campus Clutch. The Valorant esports tournament involved five-versus-five matches played by post-secondary students. This spanned across 50 countries, amounted to more than 50,000 students, and 400 events in total.

"It feels amazing to represent Team USA," Cody Elsen, the team's coach, said when the final kicked off. "The Red Bull staff and local São Paulo residents have been amazing, the trip has been great already and winning is just the icing on the cake."

Out of all of these competitors, Northwood University rose to the very top! The team didn't only win the €20,000 prize pool, but also the opportunity for an exclusive experience at a 2023 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) event.
