Prior to this patch's release, the developers acknowledged that TEKKEN 8 patch 2.00.02 shifted the game's balance too far in favor of offense. They also apologized for the disconnect between their intentions and previously stated policies.
Katsuhiro Harada himself also acknowledged the disconnect. In a post on X, he added that the focus should be on improving TEKKEN 8. "We have our Battle & Tuning team working around the clock to read through all the feedback logs from the community and work on future policies and changes for the better," Harada continued. "Thanks."
Later, Harada stated that he did not believe the backlash was unjustified. He acknowledged it as a natural response. "And we have no choice but to respond by continuing to update," he added.

According to an official announcement, the next TEKKEN 8 patch after this one will further reduce air combo damage and reassess the use of Heat Burst. They will also continue reviewing issues not addressed in TEKKEN 8 patch 2.00.02, including moves that lead to one-sided matches and attacks where the high reward doesn’t quite match the level of risk.
"Moving forward, we remain committed to incorporating player feedback and will focus on resolving cases of overly dominant character performance and interactions that result in one-sided gameplay," the announcement stated.
