The new Battle Balance Update affects every Street Fighter 6 character.

Street Fighter 6 is in the stage of active development: new characters join the fights, and the developers adjust the battle balance to keep the matches fair and exciting. We got Terry Bogard slightly more than two months ago. The release of Mai Shiranui is around the corner, as it’s planned for winter. In between these roster additions, a fresh SF6 Balance Patch shakes the movesets of all characters in the game.

The Dec. 2024 Street Fighter 6 Patch is not a major one, but the changes affect every player.

When is this Street Fighter 6 Patch out?

The SF6 Balance Update is out on Dec. 2. The maintenance schedule is below.

  • Dec. 1, 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET. The estimated maintenance period is four hours.
  • The maintenance starts on Dec. 2 for other time zones: 5 a.m. CET / 1 p.m. JST

The official announcement mentions the Akuma update from May 2024 as a comparison to this patch. Not only did that patch add the Great Demon, but it also changed the game quite significantly. The Dec. 2024 Balance Update is not as big.

When the SF6 Patch Notes are out, we will add them to this section. Stay tuned!

State of the game

Street Fighter 6 has been around for almost one and a half years. A lot has changed in the game since the original release, but the general quality of the fighting matches is exceptional. Even with big competing titles being around, SF6 remains one of the best ongoing fighting games.

This instalment did not repeat the shaky start of Street Fighter V. But it still follows a similar pass of continuous improvements.

As for the esports side of things, Street Fighter 6 shines super brightly.

  • The game was part of the Esports World Cup: Xiaohai won SF6 EWC 2024.
  • The competitive community is approaching the final of the Capcom Pro Tour 2024. It’s a series of Capcom Cup 11 qualifiers: the Japan Super Premier demonstrated how big an esports title Street Fighter 6 is right now.
  • Some of the best SF6 players in the world are involved in the team competition of the Street Fighter League series: 4-on-4 battles in the US, EU, and Japan.

That’s all about the SF6 Battle Patch from December 2024. For all Street Fighter 6 news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
