WWE’s Wrestlemania 39, which will allegedly feature Logan Paul, has sold 99,968 tickets before a single match was even announced.

Wrestlemania 39, which will reportedly feature Logan Paul, has broken the all-time Wrestlemania gate record having sold nearly 100,000 tickets before a single match has been announced. The two-day WWE event, set to take place between Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, reportedly broke the largest gate record on Jan. 2, 2023, as per a release by the company.

According to WWE, Wrestlemania 39 “broke the company’s all-time gate record for any WrestleMania, despite having yet to announce a single match. The previous record announced was $17.3 million in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.”

“The record gate comes on the heels of unprecedented ticket sales demand for WWE in 2022, in which it produced the highest-grossing gates of all-time for Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Extreme Rules. Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, which marked WWE’s first major stadium show in 30 years, was the highest-grossing event in company history.”

According to Wrestling Observer Online and WrestleTix, 99,968 tickets have been sold, with 49,584 tickets distributed for night one, and 50,114 tickets for night two. To have beaten the stated $17.3 million record, each ticket will have cost an average of $174.

No matches announced, but Logan Paul is rumored to appear at Wrestlemania

As mentioned, WWE’s Wrestlemania 39 has sold out without a single match being announced. The event is months away, and big Wrestlemania matches are often built from the start of January until just before the event. One key catalyst in the WWE story schedule is the Royal Rumble, which is set to take place on Jan. 28, 2023. The winner of the Royal Rumble matches usually receives a title shot at Wrestlemania, but feuds and beef from the event can also feed into the WM 39 hype.

One particularly relevant storyline for the streaming world is the potential matchup between social media superstar Logan Paul and professional wrestling and acting legends John Cena. The Sun newspaper reported on Dec. 31, 2022 that this was one currently planned match for Wrestlemania 39. Long Paul has publicly challenged John Cena, but so far there’s been no response.

However, the WWE’s plans for Logan could be put into jeopardy as the media personality faces increasing heat following a Coffeezilla expose on his NFT project Cryptozoo. The project has widely been panned as a scam and rug-pull. Logan rebutted Coffeezilla’s allegations in a recent video, while threatening to sue the content creator. The threat of legal action has since been retracted.

WWE itself seems less shy about controversy. The companies divisive deals with Saudi Arabia, and the impending return of its disgraced chairman Vince McMahon just months after a damning report by The Wall Street Journal that saw him accused of using over $3 million of company money to silence victims of sexual assault. With this much mud in its sty, the WWE might not worry about Logan’s controversy, instead valuing the eyes his name will bring.

And so far, fans seem to agree. It’s hard to argue with 100,000 tickets sold.
