Jake Paul defeats Mike Tyson via unanimous decision in a snoozefest

This fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson was anything but what we were expecting.

The most anticipated boxing match of 2024 finally happened as Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fought on Friday, Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.

Tyson and Paul were initially fighting in July, but the match was postponed after the former heavyweight champion had health issues.

Although the expectations were high, the fight was anything but exciting.

Round 1

What an eletrifying start to the fight. Mike Tyson went all out attack, trying to connect heavy punches against Jake Paul. The YouTuber though dodged well and hit one big punch. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul.

Round 2

Tyson kept the pressure up, but had trouble connecting his punches. Jake Paul was smart to keep Tyson at range and landed a left hook. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul (20-18 overall).

Round 3

For the first time in the fight, Tyson started to show some signs of tiredness. His strat to go all out attack against Jake Paul didn't pan out as the YouTuber dodged and landed a couple of strong punches. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul (30-27 overall).

Round 4

The fight definitely calmed down. For the first time in the match, Jake Paul started to walk forward as Tyson was more defensive to regain some oxygen. But neither of them landed significant punches. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul (40-36 overall).

Round 5

The fight is definitely in Jake Paul's favor. He's handling Tyson well, and landed at least one good uppercut and a hook. Jake Paul landed 59 punches and Tyson landed only 16 in the whole fight after round 5.

Arguably, there's no way for Mike Tyson to win the fight unless he knock out the YouTuber. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul (50-45 overall).

Round 6

Jake Paul is making great use of his jabs to keep Tyson at range. The former heavyweight champion is having a hard time to connect multiple punches. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul (60-54 overall).

Round 7

Jake Paul's coach told him to go all out attack as Tyson is an old man. Paul hit a nice three-punch combo on Tyson's face and definitely won the round. For us, Jake Paul is leading by 70-63.

Round 8

Jake Paul did try to knock out Tyson in the beginning of the round, but he slowed down after Tyson hit a nice hook.

In the end, Tyson didn't try to knock Paul down and the YouTuber bowed down as a sign of respect before the fight ended. For us, it was 10-9 Jake Paul again and he should win by 80-72 or something close.

Jake Paul won the fight by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73, and 79-73). Paul landed 78 punches out of 278 thrown and Mike Tyson hit him only 18 times out of 97 punches thrown throughout the fight, which made the judge's job very easy.

The rules for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

This was a professional boxing match under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. The fight had eight rounds of two minutes each, and Paul and Tyson used 14-ounce gloves.

Since the fight is professional, it counted toward their official boxing records.

  • Out of these six losses, five were by knockout. Tyson lost by decision for the first time in his career against Jake Paul. He has only loss one by disqualification — the one in which he unfamously bit Evan Holyfield's ears in 1997.

  • Out of these 10 wins, seven were by knockout and four were by decision, including the victory against Tyson.

On Nov. 14, the bettors slightly favored Jake Paul. The YouTuber turned fighter was a -210 favorite, meaning if you bet $210 on him, you would make $100 if he wins.

Mike Tyson, on the other hand, was a +165 underdog. If you bet $100 on the legendary boxer and he wins, you'd earn $165.
