The NBA is coming to Twitch in partnership with Gaules and Budweiser.

Brazilian content creator and former CS:GO player, Gaules has partnered up with NBA and Budweiser to stream NBA matches on Twitch. This is the first time that NBA matches will be broadcast live on Twitch.

Popular for his FPS content, Gaules commands a massive viewership audience, mostly from South America. He is a vocal supporter of South American CS:GO teams and regularly breaks new viewership records for his channel.

Gaules brings NBA to Twitch

"With Budweiser, we were able to bring together the best basketball in the world with the second largest streamer on the planet. This is a unique combination, unprecedented and with a very deep connection with our fans. We will have many games, a variety of exclusive content and, mainly, a special connection with the Tribe in this new initiative. We can't wait to watch the first game streamed and we're very excited about what's coming with this amazing partnership”

Rodrigo Vicentini, Head of the NBA in Brazil.

Gaules will stream NBA matches live on his channel starting June 2. The broadcasts start with the Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks of the Eastern conference at 8:30 pm ET. He will also stream the Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles that is part of the Western conference at 11:00 p.m. PDT.

NBA testing the waters with Gaules partnership

The streamer said he will invite guests on to his stream so his viewers can expect an interactive broadcast. With 2.7 million followers, Gaules has one of the largest follower-base from South America. The streamer broke the Brazilian Twitch viewership record in 2020 during a match between MIBR and FURIA at the ESL Pro League Season 11 North America.

"We found in a recent survey that basketball is the second most watched sport by the Tribe. That's why we've teamed up with Budweiser and nba to offer the public more unpublished content. It will be a new experience for me and Tribe, but we will learn together about this new universe. I believe that this new partnership has everything to be long and lasting," Gaules said.

Twitch is traditionally associated with gaming and esports. While the platform has ventured into IRL streaming, music and more recently Hot tubs, a significant portion of its viewers associate themselves with video games. As one of the fastest rising viewership mediums today, bringing NBA to Twitch can be a significant step forward to bring more sports streams to a younger audience.
