Is Dr Disrespect retiring? Doc states: “[I want] to move away from the limelight”

Dr Disrespect will step away following heavy allegations.

Dr Disrespect just announced an indefinite break from streaming and social media in his latest YouTube live. This announcement also came around the same time he was terminated from his own game studio, Midnight Society, which is a result of the recent serious allegations.

Dr Disrespect takes a break from streaming

Dr Disrespect has been in the blazing hot seat the past few days. This happened after a former Twitch employee accused him of sexting a minor which resulted in his notoriously mysterious Twitch ban. A string of supporting statements also followed which added fuel to the fire.

Despite the fiery situation, Dr Disrespect continued to host an Elden Ring livestream today. However, it ended at a short 3-hour mark when the Doc expressed his fatigue from social media and the industry. He then announced an indefinite break from streaming and bid farewell to his Champion's Club.

And if you're wondering if Dr Disrespect is retiring, the answer is no. The streamer did inform his followers to keep their eyes on his socials where he will inform his return.

I'll be honest I'm feeling a little fatigue. Feeling a little burnt out. When shit like this happens over the weekend and..I'm actually tired of being on social media and I have expressed that over the years Champs. I've always kind of hinted, it'll be nice to get off and just completely separate, right? Go live in Costa Rica or something.

He stated that throughout the long years of streaming it has drained him and his family. He also thought of starting a new chapter in his life and start something new.

When did we start streaming? 2015, 16? I've been doing this since 2009. Different scene back then. Having a good time. Playing the games that are fun to interact with, and create content with. Over the years, it's been drained out of me, out of my family and I. [...] Maybe it's time to start something new, something different.

Ultimately, the Doc said that the reason behind his break is fatigue and wanting to move away from the limelight.

Just completely remove myself from the scene. It's what I need to do. It's fatigue, it's tired, it's wanting to just kind of move away from the limelight. Ultimately, that's what it's about.

Midnight Society cuts ties with Dr Disrespect

The announcement of Dr Disrespect's indefinite break came around the same time his own game studio decided to cut ties with him. Midnight Society just announced that it did its own investigation to talk with parties involved and decided to immediately cut ties with Dr Disrespect.

On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.

Midnight Society

Midnight Society is a triple-A gaming studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect alongside notable developers from games like Halo and Call of Duty. The studio currently has an ongoing project codenamed Dead Drop.

Dr Disrespect might have been terminated mid-stream

A YouTube comment pointed out that during his livestream, Dr Disrespect showed a drastic mood change at minute 3:11:29. He seemed to have pulled out his phone and seen a message and he continued to become silent for almost a full minute. He sighed and looked affected from what he had just seen. This could be the announcement from Midnight Society as it dropped around the same timeframe.

Dr Disrespect is one of the most prominent streamers with more than 4 million subscribers on YouTube. Once the Face of Twitch, he faced a mysterious ban which led him to the red platform. With the announcement of a break, it is yet unknown when the Doc will continue to his streaming routine.
