All the details of these new features and Rocket Pass 17 cosmetics are here.

When is Rocket League Season 17?

There are various activities during this period. Also, players get new missions and rewards with the new Rocket Pass.

Seasons in this game are traditionally pretty long. For example, Rocket League Season 16 continued throughout the entire Fall of 2024. This means you have enough time to complete the missions and earn the prizes. Still, 70+ tiers in the Rocket Pass Season 17 — it’s quite a lot, and it is a good idea to start earning XP right now.

All new features of Season 17

The main theme of Season 17 in Rocket League is classic gaming arcades. At this point, it is hard to tell whether those old arcades were as bright and colorful as those wonderful Decals introduced in the new Rocket Pass. Perhaps, the game combines the retro-arcade tradition with cyberpunk vibes.

Online Free Play in Rocket League

This feature was teased by Rocket League, and it’s officially confirmed now.

Previously, Free Play was available offline, as part of the Training modes. The main purpose is to practice various tricks and polish your playing skills in a rather relaxed environment.

Now, Rocket League gets Online Free Play — for people to gather together and have fun while training their skills. You can start it and become a host, or a Party leader. It is possible to join existing Online Free Play sessions.

These servers have customization options, like choosing game modes to play, Arenas, boosts options, and goal reset settings.

Free Party: limited time event

Rocket League encourages players to experience the excitement of Online Free Play — in the Free Party limited time event (LTE). Starting from Dec. 4, 2024, you can try and complete special challenges. The rewards are:

  • Power of Friendship title
  • Black Dieci wheels

Rocket League Split Shot: limited time mode

The Split Shot LTM (limited time mode) feels like one of the best things happening in Rocket League Season 17 — from the dedicated competitive point of view. The mode is challenging alright, and playing it should develop the essential skill of scoring from afar.

  • The Split Shot barrier divides the Arena into two halves. With your team, you can drive only on the home side, trying to score from it. And you need to prevent your opponents from doing the same.

Another Rocket League LTM, Split Shot Heatseeker, whirls around the same formula. It’s a chance for you to learn how to score some of the most difficult and most spectacular goals in the game.

Split Shot LTM and Split Shot Heatseeker are available later in Season 17, starting from Dec. 10. To play them, head to the Dueling Playlist.

A new Arena variant: Neo Tokyo (Arcade)

Neo Tokyo is an amazing Rocket League Arena on its own, and in Season 17, it gets a special variant. Neo Tokyo (Arcade) follows the general theme of arcade cabinets and bright neon lights.

It looks great! And it feels excellent to play Rocket League here.

Community Spotlight

This may seem like a small feature, but having it feels so good for the Rocket League community. The game highlights some of the prominent people. At the start of Season 17, from Dec. 4 to Dec. 10, head to the shop and claim the Squishy Saver Title. It refers to the World Champion SquishyMuffinz.

Season 17 Rocket Pass

A new season in Rocket League starts a new series of in-game missions and launches a new ladder of Rocket Pass tiers. Play the game, complete the missions, earn XP, Unlock new tiers, and enjoy your Season 17 rewards.

There are more than 70 tiers in this Rocket Pass. You need to buy the Premium Tiers to get all the items, including the following.

  • Shokunin Car Body and its variant Shokunin GXT (both with the Octane Hitbox)
  • MechMania Decal and Synthpop Trail
  • Pixel Melon Wheels

These items are decent, even if you are used to buying cars in the shop: like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in Rocket League.

Free rewards in Rocket League Season 17

  • In the game shop, you can claim Tokyo Machine’s PLAY (VIP) Player Anthem — it’s the song of Season 17.
