Rainbow Six Siege and numbers in Steam

Released December 1, 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has its best number of players after almost three years on Steam. From December 2017 to 2021, the game practically consistently had numbers exceeding 100,000 players at its peak. The numbers began to fall after this period.

However, February 2024 saw an increase in the numbers presented in recent months.

Rainbow Six Siege's Steam numbers have lacked enthusiasm over the past two years. As of November 2021, the game has 23,470 average players. The number, according to Steam Charts, only shows a number of average players closer to that number in January 2017 with 20,706.

What explains R6 numbers on Steam?

Rainbow Six Siege player numbers on Steam are exciting. However, what can explain this rise in numbers if the trend in recent months was downward?

It is undeniable that the spectacle of the Six Invitational in São Paulo last month contributed to this. The show given by the players and fans at the 'Ginásio do Ibirapuera' contributed to this increase in the numbers of Rainbow Six Siege on Steam. The players once again had hope in the game after a final worthy of a movie.

The 2024 Six Invitational also represented the highest peak Rainbow Six Siege esports event in history. There were 521,349 viewers and it went down in history as the most watched event.

Something that could explain it is the recent updates and the new operation. Year 9 Season 1 is just around the corner for R6 players with several new features. Among them Deimos, a new operator that should change some things in the game.
