What’s your favorite scary movie?

Rumors regarding Ghostface from the Scream franchise joining Mortal Kombat 1 have run rampant for the past few months. It’s all but confirmed at this point that this collaboration will eventually occur. Although some fans may have doubts, some seemingly verifiable proof has surfaced thanks to announcer lines from everyone’s favorite science experiment, Mileena.

Leaked Mileena announcer lines seemingly confirm Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1

The leak arrived via YouTuber Interloko, who published a video showcasing Mileena’s announcer dialogue. In the video, Mileena speaks the names of various MK1 characters. However, one such name around the 5:18 mark instantly made the ears of many perk up.

Mortal Kombat's fan-favorite character mentions the slasher icon Ghostface’s name twice, and it’s as clear as day. Rumors up to this point have been strong, but nothing concrete. Now, the evidence is indisputable, and it’s only a matter of time before NetherRealm Studios makes it official.

When is Ghostface coming to MK1?

Apart from an Ash Williams in MK11 situation, Ghostface joining Mortal Kombat 1 is inevitable. The question lingering in the minds of many is: when? Homelander has just launched as part of Kombat Pack 1, leaving only Ferra and Takeda Takahashi to round out KP1.

While it’s all speculation at this point, the potential inclusion of Ghostface in Kombat Pack 2 seems to align with the release of the seventh installment in the Scream franchise, which is reportedly set for late 2024 or early 2025. This could mean that Ghostface might make his debut in Mortal Kombat 1 towards the end of Kombat Pack 2.

Some other leaked dialogue has given hints as to what other characters fans can expect in the future, but we’ll have to wait and see. For now, you can play as Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander while we await something official from NRS.
