After three years, Team Soul are back at the top after taking an insurmountable lead in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series.

Team Soul have been crowned the champions of the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Pro Series Season 1. The team put up a dominant performance across all four days in the finals to top the BMPS' points table and earn the trophy.

The BMPS happened from May 19 to June 12 with the top 24 teams from the BGMI Open Challenge (BMOC) competing for the title of champions. From May 19 to June 5, the league stage was held with the best 16 teams making it to the finals on June 9 to 12.

Team Soul dominates in the BMPS Season 1 Finals, a close fight for second place

Team Soul, which switched around its roster before the BMOC, were on a different level throughout the finals. With 166 kills and 169 placement points, they accumulated a total of 335 points, 85 ahead of second-placed OR Esports. They had the most finishes out of any team in the finals.

Team Soul’s roster features VipeR, Mortal, AkshaT, Omega, Goblin, and Hector. Goblin, who picked up 71 kills, was adjourned as the MVP, Rampage Freak, and fan-favorite player of the tournament. The fan-favorite team of the BMPS reward was given to Team Soul as well.

“This is just the beginning. Wait and watch what happens in the future.”

While Team Soul had extended its lead in BMPS Finals at the top of the points table early on, the fight for second place was much closer.

With as many as four teams, namely OR Esports, Enigma Gaming, Global Esports, and FS Esports, being in contention for the second spot ahead of the final game, it was OR Esports’ spectacular show in the last game on Erangel which saw them grab on to the second place. Enigma Gaming, Global Esports, and FS Esports fell early in this game.

Enigma capitalized on this and went on to get second place in the match, narrowly losing out on the chicken dinner to eventual winners Team Soul. Nonetheless, it was enough to put them in second place in the BMPS Points Table.

Redemption for Team Soul after their huge lead in the Finals' Points Table

When you talk about the history of PUBG Mobile and BGMI esports in India, Team Soul is a name that can’t be ignored. The last time that the team won an official tournament was the PMCO Spring Split in 2019.

After the release of BGMI, the team struggled to find its footing with back-to-back low-ranking finishes. The present roster, which was put together in March, have proved all the naysayers wrong with their performance in the BMPS.

What’s next after the BMPS Season 1?

With the BMPS Season 1 concluding, fans will be wondering what’s in store for them in the future. The main lingering question right now is whether Team Soul will now compete in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022, which was unveiled by Tencent last month.

More details about the PMWI are expected soon, so fans won’t have to wait around much longer to find out. In terms of local tournaments, the next official competition for BGMI will be the BMIS 2022. Krafton hasn't revealed any details yet.
