Marvel Rivals has hit the ground running with players across the globe diving into the world of Marvel and battling with their favorite heroes and villains from the universe.

The arena shooter features dozens of characters who are pitted against each other in action-packed lobbies. The question on everyone's minds: how much does it cost to play?

Yes, Marvel Rivals is a free game. You do not need to spend any money to play the game or its alternate game modes. You can even set up private online lobbies for your friends if you aren't feeling like diving into multiplayer!

The Marvel Rivals Championship tournament is also free-to-play, provided you've reached Silver 3 in Ranked and have joined a Faction.

You can play Marvel Rivals across multiple different platforms including PC (Steam or Epic Games), PlayStation, and Xbox. Crossplay is enabled meaning friends across these platforms can party up.

There are two main currencies you can earn in Marvel Rivals. Lattice is the premium currency and can only be purchased with cash. Units are a freely-earned currency that you'll get by finishing daily and weekly challenges and seasonal missions.

At this time, the majority of items in the game's store are purchased using Units. You can convert purchased Lattice to Units which can then be spent on hero bundles, character costumes, and other cosmetic items. Cash will only get you cosmetic upgrades for your Marvel Rivals heroes or account.

A third currency, Chrono Tokens, is used to upgrade your battle pass. Marvel Rivals' battle pass works similarly to Helldivers 2; you must spend Chrono Tokens to unlock extra pages of the battle pass, which include better rewards.

The battle pass itself can also be upgraded by purchasing the Luxury upgrade which unlocks extra rewards for your Chrono Tokens. The Luxury battle pass costs 490 Lattice (~$5 USD).
