Mikyx’s departure from G2 Esports marks the team’s first roster change after maintaining the same lineup for two years.

G2 Esports has parted ways with their Support player, Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle, after nearly two years together. The announcement was made on November 26 through the team's official X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a three-minute video uploaded to the team’s YouTube channel.

Mikyx initially joined G2 Esports on December 22, 2022, after leaving fellow LEC team Excel Esports. This marked his second homecoming to G2, as he had previously played for the organization from November 2018 to January 2022.

During his time with G2 Esports, he has achieved numerous milestones, including 2019 LEC Spring and Summer champion, 2019 MSI champion, 2019 Worlds runner-up, 2020 LEC Spring and Summer champion, 2023 LEC Summer Champion, and 2023 and 2024 LEC Season Finals champion. Additionally, Mikyx was named MVP of the 2023 LEC Season Finals.

However, despite their local success, G2 Esports has struggled to perform on the international stage, failing to reach the Worlds Knockout Stage for two consecutive years. These shortcomings may have influenced the organization’s decision to make roster changes heading to 2025.

Which team will Mikyx join?

According to the official League of Legends Global Contract Database (GCD), Mikyx's contract with G2 Esports was set to run until November 17, 2025. This suggests that a loan or player trade with another LEC team might be involved.

Sources indicate that Mikyx has reached a verbal agreement with Fnatic for the upcoming LEC season. Supporting this speculation, Fnatic left a comment on Mikyx’s farewell message on X, which many in the community view as a hint.

Who will replace Mikyx in G2 Esports

As of now, G2 Esports has not officially announced Mikyx’s replacement. Sources claim the team considered retaining Yoon "Jun" Se-jun from Fnatic as part of the exchange, but the same reports suggest that the Korean Support will be joining GIANTX instead.

G2 Esports may explore several options: Acquiring or loaning a Support player from another LEC team, importing a Support player from the LCK or LLA (formerly LCS), or recruiting a newcomer or transitioning a veteran player to the Support role, as seen previously with Rekkles.
