After joining the organization back in 2018, Griffin has officially departed Counter Logic Gaming this week.

On borrowed time: Broxah's arrival meant the beginning of the end for Griffin

Griffin was given the opportunity to play with the main roster while Broxah was awaiting the approval of his visa. Griffin took part in the LCS Lock-In tournament with the main roster while also playing six games in the spring regular season. After Broxah's visa was approved, the Danish jungler took over from Griffin as the starter for CLG.

After losing his spot on the starting roster, the future looked bleak for Griffin as CLG opted for starting Keel for their academy roster permanently. This included playing in the LCS Proving Grounds Last Change qualifier. Griffin's departure from the organization was announced shortly after.

Griffin's time with Counter Logic Gaming

Formerly known as Wiggily in 2018, Griffin departed from Cloud9 and their academy side in 2018 in search of a new challenge. Griffin found himself bouncing around CLG's academy side and the main roster. In the same year he joined CLG, Griffin helped his side reach the grand-finals in academy. Griffin and Counter Logic Gaming fell just short after losing to his former side in Cloud9.

Griffin's big break came in the 2019 summer split when he was made a full-time starter. This was where fans got to see the potential of Griffin flourish. Griffin had a monstrous split as CLG reached a third-place finish in the summer of 2019. While it was not enough to send them to Worlds, the LCS knew what Griffin was about.

Here is how Griffin ranked amongst his fellow junglers in the 2019 Summer Split:

  • Kills: 42 - 1st
  • KDA: 4.1 - 5th
  • Kill participation: 74% - 4th
  • Gold difference at ten minutes: 76 - 5th

While Griffin had an MVP calibre performance in the Summer Split, it was not enough to help see his side qualify for the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. Sadly for Griffin, it was all downhill from here as he and the rest of CLG went on to finish near the bottom of the standings for the next three splits. Here is Griffin's placements with CLG since his full time move to the main roster:

  • Summer 2019: Third Place
  • Spring 2020: Tenth Place
  • Summer 2020: Ninth Place
  • LCS Lock-In 2021: 9-10th
  • Spring 2021: Ninth Place

As Griffin departs from CLG, the North American player shared his plans for the future following his exit from the LCS.
