Arcane Afterglow Episode 3

This episode can now be viewed for free on YouTube. In addition to the usual cast of Purnell, Steinfeld, and Linke, this week's discussion includes Arcane co-creator Alex Yee. Together, they talk about whether or not Vi's still in the fight, Jinx's fate, what happened to Jayce and Viktor, Ekko's mission, the future of Zaun, Mel's connection with the Black Rose, and more. The full video is below.

Is Jinx dead in Arcane?

According to Purnell in Arcane Afterglow Episode 3, it's unclear if Jinx is actually dead. Instead, her fate remains up to speculation.

"We don't know," Purnell said in response to Vi's voice actor. "We're gonna leave that open to interpretation."

What happened to Jayce and Viktor?

Meanwhile, regarding the fate of Jayce and Viktor, co-creator Linke confirmed that they have disintegrated. He added that he wanted these characters to "experience more together," however, there wasn't enough time to do that.

"Are they alright? No. I would say they have unfortunately disintegrated. They decided that they will face the consequences of Viktor's glorious evolution together. That is, unfortunately, their end as well," he said.

Later in the episode, Linke continued, "To me, the Jayce/Viktor ending was really, to a certain degree, it feels unresolved — even though there is like an understanding for them in the end. But I just always feel like more should be said and they should experience more together, but we're not given that time, which I would say that's the most difficult one for me."

What happened to Ekko in Arcane Season 2?

In terms of what happened to Ekko, he bent time to help the people of Zaun. According to Shannon, Ekko's mission still remains the same: to fight another day and to build a better society.

Yee added to this, noting that the most realistic future for Zaun is to reforge its identity. "Maybe there can just be a better version of these twin cities," he said, referring to Zaun and Piltover.

What happens to Mel in Arcane?

As for Mel, her lineage offers viewers a glimpse into the broader world of Runeterra. Her transformation from a "cunning fox" at the start of the season to "the wolf" by the end shows that she's capable of making deadly decisions. After using the power of the Black Rose to defeat Ambessa, her mother, Mel defeats the leader of the Black Rose as well.

Will there be an Arcane Season 3?

According to Riot Games co-founder Marc "Tryndamere" Merrill, "Arcane was always written to be two seasons."
