PS5 Showcase 2021: All the Biggest Announcements

The 2021 PS5 Showcase has wrapped up in full, with a slew of game announcements for the PlayStation 5 in tow. Running for about an hour in length, the PlayStation 5-centric event had a ton of new games to show as well as some very welcome surprises.

Here is the full list of trailers and announcements in order of appearance:

Nope, this is not a drill, nor is it a dream. The long-rumored remake of beloved RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is real, and it's coming to both PS5 and PC. The trailer was purely cinematic, showing no gameplay nor a release window, but this should get fans of the original game extremely excited for the future.

Drawing comparisons to games like NieR: Automata and Bayonetta, Project Eve is a hack-and-slash action game that looks absolutely gorgeous to say the least. Developer SHIFT UP Corporation had a whole four-minute gameplay trailer to accompany the reveal as well.

Gearbox Software's latest entry into the Borderlands franchise comes in the form of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The game focuses on the titular fan favorite character, Tiny Tina. Although it is a spinoff title, it retains the familiar looter shooter gameplay the franchise is known for. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands releases on March 25th, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, and PC.

Luminous Productions showed a gameplay trailer for action RPG Forspoken, now confirmed for release in Spring 2022. The trailer showcased the title's flashy magic-oriented combat system. Forspoken will be available on PS5 and PC.

With momentum from the popularity of Rainbow Six Siege on their side, Ubisoft unveiled a new trailer for Rainbow Six Extraction. Much like Siege, Extraction is a multiplayer tactical shooter, presumably with many of the same mechanics. The game has actually been delayed from an initial release date of September 16th, 2021, and will instead come out in January 2022. Extraction will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Stadia, and PC.

Remedy Entertainment's classic action-adventure title Alan Wake is getting a remaster, which actually looks quite good from the trailer. The enhanced version will arrive on PS4 and PS5 in Fall 2021.

For the nth time ever, Rockstar Games will re-release Grand Theft Auto V — this time on PS5. The game will feature enhanced graphics to take advantage of the more powerful hardware. There weren't, however, any new features in the teaser. Either way, it lands on PS5 on March 22nd, 2022.

Highly-anticipated action-adventure/horror title Ghostwire: Tokyo also showed off some new footage today. Though the trailer was mostly composed of cinematic shots, it also had some snippets of gameplay — particularly when it came to the game's traversal system. Ghostwire: Tokyo arrives on PS5 and PC in Spring 2022.

First revealed at E3 this year, the Guardians of the Galaxy action-adventure game showed up at the PS5 Showcase today. The trailer exhibited quite a bit of gameplay as well, particularly from the perspective of main protagonist Star-Lord. Guardians of the Galaxy is set for release on October 26th, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

A battle royale game set in the universe of tabletop RPG Vampire: The Masquerade, Bloodhunt looks like a truly gruesome take on the genre. The gameplay trailer focuses on the unique characters and their abilities while showing off the bloody visuals. The game is slated for release sometime in 2021.

Arkane Studios' Deathloop comes out on September 14th, which is more than close enough that we can say we know everything there is to know about it at this point. In spite of this, however, another trailer dropped at the PS5 Showcase today. Deathloop is a timed exclusive for both PS5 and PC.

A truly unlikely combination, rock band Radiohead and Epic Games are teaming up to make Kid A Mnesia Exhibition. It is based on the upcoming double album reissue of the same name, Kid A Mnesia Exhibition seems to be a "virtual experience" of sorts rather than an actual video game. The title arrives on PS5 in November this year.

California-based developer Awaceb revealed tropical open world adventure game Tchia at the PS5 Showcase today. Both colorful and stylistic in design, this island-hopping title looks to be one of the more unique offerings on PS5. Tchia lands on PS5 in 2022.

Landmark action-adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and its expansion The Lost Legacy are getting remastered in the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. The compilation will arrive on both PS5 and PC early next year.

Move over, bub. The tough-talking, grizzled mutant Wolverine is getting his own video game, developed by Insomniac Games. Insomniac were responsible for the Spider-Man game on PS4, as well as Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Unfortunately, the trailer did not include a release window.

Legendary racing game series Gran Turismo is coming back with a vengeance on PS5. Gran Turismo 7, with its stunning visuals and classic gameplay, will surely please car fans everywhere. The game arrives on PS4 and PS5 on March 4th, 2022.

As if Insomniac Games didn't already steal the show with Wolverine, they also dropped a trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 will serve as the sequel to the critically acclaimed Spider-Man, which came out for PS4 in 2018. The trailer featured both Peter Parker and Miles Morales joining forces in-game, as well as antagonist Venom. Spider-Man 2 is slated for release in 2023.

Saving the best for last, Santa Monica Studio made sure not to disappoint fans by giving them a God of War: Ragnarök trailer. First revealed in September 2020, Ragnarök serves as the sequel to God of War (2018). Needless to say, the gameplay footage looks incredible, and we can't wait to get our hands on this game. God of War: Ragnarök is set to come out sometime in 2022.
