Elden Ring streamer found a way to troll Gaius, an annoying boss

Commander Gaius is not an issue anymore thanks to this simple trick by MissMikkaa

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a little more than a month old, with new content to suffer enjoy. Even though multiple streamers already beat the game, it's only now that we can see new ways to do it. This is the case for the hard-core Elden Ring streamer, MissMikkaa, who found how to avoid Gaius first hit.

The concept is really simple, and it's been around for quite some time. First, you have to summon Torrent, provoking Gaius to charge towards you. Then, just stand still. When the boss is close to hit, get off the horse. Congratulations on dodging with zero effort! But what explains this dark magic?

As MissMikkaa explains (while singing the iconic "Hey Ya!" by Outkast), it's all about Torrent's i-frames. This could be considered a bug by some players, but it's been on the game for the longest time.

What are i-frames, and how can you abuse them?

The souls-like community of players use it as short for "invincibility frames". In Elden Ring, you get them by rolling, but there are other ways to do it, like getting off Torrent while standing still. Normally, rolling burns your stamina in exchange for i-frames; but the horse trick doesn't. Contrary to what you may be thinking, this is not something you can spam.

Trying to summon Torrent during the Gaius fight in Elden Ring is something you should only do when he is far away. The boss will hit you otherwise, before even riding your horse.

In a Reddit conversation about how i-frames work in Elden Ring, the user "Dag-nabbitt" explains how they work compared to other souls games. He adds that jumping grants them only for your lower body. And, for 19% to 25% increase on i-frames, you'll need the wind crystal tear.

Is Gaius the hardest Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree boss?

Short answer, no. However, he's definitely a boss that has stopped multiple players, some of them very well-known streamers. His hitbox is infamously known as one of the hardest to dodge, with very unpredictable combos. Gaius charge also deals an immense amount of damage, making him even more annoying.

But this will never be an issue for the girl who beat Elden Ring using a dance pad. Malenia included. If you've just been demoralized learning about this, maybe take a break reading more news on esports.gg!
