Siphon is FINALLY back in Fortnite!

Siphon has returned to Fortnite for the first time since Epic Games removed the mechanic in May 2023. Following the FNCS Global Championship 2024, the developers announced that Siphon would return in Ranked and Competitive.

Today, Epic announced the Siphon Trials, a weekly test phase for players and developers to better understand which version of Siphon works best. Here is everything you need to know!

Fortnite Siphon Trials explained

The Fortnite Siphon Trials will occur in Ranked Battle Royale, Zero Build, and competitive tournaments. Each week, the Siphon effects will change to allow players a different benefit following an elimination.

For example, when you eliminate an opponent in week one, you will receive 40 Effective Health (Health and Shield). That will change to 50 Effective Health, and the effects will continuously change until the end of week six on November 5.

Siphon Trials Schedule

  • Week 1 (starts today): 40 Effective Health
  • Week 2 (starts October 1): 50 Effective Health
  • Week 3 (starts October 8): 25 Effective Health
  • Week 4 (starts October 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
  • Week 5 (starts October 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
  • Week 6 starts (October 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield

Epic Games will listen closely to feedback during the Trials to determine the best Fortnite Siphon settings. Ultimately, when the six-week period concludes, the developers will select one of the options above.

Siphon is a mechanic in Fortnite that allows players to gain Health and Shield upon eliminating opponents. It remained a staple in competitive tournaments and Arena Mode for some time before Epic inexplicably removed it in May 2023.

Since then, competitive players have campaigned for Epic to bring it back. One year and four months have passed, and Siphon has finally returned.
