Fortnite Ranked Reload is almost here, providing players with a more challenging landscape. This OG-inspired game mode debuted in June and has drawn hundreds of thousands of players. Reload's fast pace, respawns, and a classic Fortnite touch made it an instant hit. Soon, a Ranked version with various game types and even some cosmetic rewards will be available. Here is everything you need to know.

When is Ranked Reload coming to Fortnite?

Epic Games has announced that Ranked Reload will launch in the Sept. 24 update. This patch aligns with rumors of the 2024 Fortnite birthday event, which will reportedly begin on Sept. 24. Although the exact release time is unknown, Ranked Reload should be available around 9 or 10 a.m. ET.

What game modes will be available in Ranked?

Fortnite Ranked Reload will feature a Battle Royale version with building enabled alongside a Zero Build option. Players will have the option of Duos or Squads for team sizes.

How can I unlock the Felina skin?

The Felina skin is one of two Fortnite Ranked Reload rewards that will be unlockable once the new game mode arrives. You must earn 25 account levels after the Sept. 24 update to unlock the Pickaxe and 50 account levels for the Felina skin.

Account levels differ from your seasonal Battle Pass progression levels. These accumulate as you play Fortnite, transferring from season to season. You can check your current account level by heading to the 'Career' tab as pictured above.

What is Fortnite Reload?

If you aren't familiar with Fortnite Reload, this game mode launched in June 2024, offering players a faster and more chaotic environment than the traditional Battle Royale and Zero Build game modes. Depending on which squad size you choose, you will spawn into a smaller version of Fortnite's OG Chapter 1 map with your teammates and loot as usual.

Then, you will encounter opponents, and when eliminated, you will respawn while respawning is still enabled. The goal is to survive until then and be the last team standing.

Here is a brief summary of how the Fortnite Reload works:

  • When eliminated, a player’s individual reboot timer starts. The player reboots at the end of the timer.
  • Reboot timers begin at 30 seconds and scale up to 40 seconds later in the match.
  • Remaining teammates can reduce reboot timers by 2 seconds by downing an opponent, 4 seconds by eliminating one, and 10 seconds by wiping an opposing squad.
  • When downed, players can opt to start their reboot timer right away instead of waiting for a revive.
  • Towards the end of the match, reboots will stop, meaning lost teammates will no longer return.
