Fortnite New Year’s 2025 event: Here’s what you can expect

It's almost 2025, meaning Fortnite is gearing up for its annual New Year's event. Although nothing huge, this celebration is something players can enjoy frequently until midnight in their local time zone. Epic Games may also launch some year-specific Item Shop cosmetics you can acquire to complete your outfit for the occasion. Here's a deep look at everything you can expect this year!

The annual New Year's event began in 2018 and has recurred each year for players to celebrate. With different regions saying "Happy New Year" at various times, Epic Games activates this mini-event every hour on the hour, usually during Winterfest. That means you don't necessarily need to stay up until midnight to see what the game has to offer.

At the top of each hour, a disco ball will emerge from the sky alongside a ten-second countdown. Once the countdown reaches zero, Fortnite forces all players to celebrate New Year's by dancing to fireworks and music. It's worth noting that combat is impossible during this period.

If you don't find yourself at a party to ring in the year 2025, Fortnite offers a fun alternative. You can also celebrate by visiting Times Square Island, which the game recently promoted on its social media accounts.

It's challenging to say whether Fortnite will launch 2025-specific cosmetics for the New Year's event. However, it's worth noting that Epic Games did not release any in-game items for 2022 or 2023. This year may provide more of the same, with no evidence or indication from Fortnite leakers, especially with Epic Games on its annual winter break.
