4D Esports from Peru have announced that they will be running the upcoming season of the SA DPC.

It's a proud proud day for South American Dota 2 scene. 4D Esports, a tournament organizer from Peru have announced that they will be running the SA DPC for the coming season. This will mark the first time in Dota 2 history that a South-American TO will run a DPC event.

4D will be taking the reigns from OGA Dota PIT, did a great job with the SA DPC last season. ESL is hosting the NA League while DreamHack and EPIC League are hosting the European and CIS sections respectively. Perfect World is handling the Chinese League and the Majors for the upcoming season.

Valve has brought about some changes to the prize money and points distribution for the new DPC season. Leagues and Majors closer to TI11 will give out more points. The 2022 DPC season kicks off on November 29 with the first tour's regional league.

Who are 4D Esports?

If you're not from South America, you may not have heard of 4D just yet. Despite the Lima-based collective being around for just two years, it has quickly amassed some experience in organizing esports events in the region. 4D esports is a joint venture between several well-known casters and tournament organizers of the Spanish-speaking Dota 2 community. Being named as one of the TOs for the 2022 DPC season is a significant achievement for this organization.

Since being founded in 2019, they've run over 10 smaller events including "The Great American Rivalry" series. In terms of prize-pool, their most significant tournament would be Realms Collide: The Burning Darkness just one year ago. The event saw Quincy Crew take out Infamous to win $75,000USD.

4D also had a hand in the production of TI10's official Spanish broadcast. While English and Russian were the most popular languages watched during TI10, the Spanish broadcast was in at third, according to Escharts.

Taking on the SA DPC will be their biggest venture yet, and a true test of the org's mettle. With that said, they are by no means alone. Beyond The Summit Brazil will be assisting them with logistics and organization.

Only Up For South American Dota 2 From Here

This is a huge statement for the region of South America. As Ramón "Swadow" López puts it in his tweet "This is a testament to how the region has evolved in the past 2 years."

Admittedly though, TI10 did not shine the best light on the SA region - with all Thunder Predator and SG Esports falling in the group stage. While some had hoped region frontrunners Beastcoast would repeat their solid showing at TI9 (as Infamous), they too would fall in the best-of-one to Alliance.

Despite the lackluster result, writing off South America is a mistake not many are willing to make again. Who could forget Thunder Predator's roar through the Singapore Major? With more infrastructure and support for the scene within the region itself, SA Dota will be one to watch.

Meanwhile, Dota 2 fans should tune in to the SA Broadcast this year for some unique and exciting content during the DPC.
