PGL Wallachia Main Event dates

The dates for PGL Wallachia spans from May 10 to 19, marking ten days of high-profile Dota 2 set to unfold.

This first installment in the PGL Dota 2 marathon is sandwiched between two ESL Pro Tour events. PGL Wallachia Season 1 begins twelve days after the end of ESL One Birmingham. After this event ends, pro players only have one day to rest before DreamLeague Season 23 kickstarts. You can read more about all upcoming Dota 2 tournaments below!

Venue and location

The venue for PGL Wallachia is PGL Studios in Wallachia, Bucharest, Romania.

The organizers revealed that PGL Wallachia will occur in the cozy surroundings of its own studio. It will provide its best tech and most sophisticated experience for the players. Both of PGL tournaments this year will take place in its studio, with the latter tournament yet to be named. PGL Studios have hosted a number of tournaments at its studio before, one of them includes the Bucharest Major. Unfortunately, the LAN tournament will not feature a live audience.

Another million-dollar prize pool into the fray

Like many other tier 1 tournaments in 2024, PGL Wallachia will also host a $1 million prize pool. This massive number will likely be distributed in the typical format. Other tournaments with this prize pool includes all DreamLeague events, ESL One events, and the upcoming Elite League tournament.

A tournament filled with stand-ins

PGL Wallachia will be an interesting spectacle following a wave of VISA issues hitting teams and players. Tundra Esports and Blacklist International, who both qualified via the regional qualifiers, could not secure their VISAs on time. This sees MOUZ and Azure Ray joining the tournament last-minute.

Teams like Shopify Rebellion and Team Falcons will also field stand-ins. Shopify Rebellion recently welcomed prominent names, GH and SumaiL, to temporarily play for the team in PGL Wallachia. Meanwhile, Falcons will once again see the absence of Malr1ne due to VISA issues and in his place will be the returning TI champion, Nine.
