Fy returns to competitive Dota 2 with Invictus Gaming

The legend returns! Fy joins Invictus Gaming after months of hiatus.

After months-long hiatus, phenomenal position 4 player, Xu "fy" Linsen makes a return to the competitive scene with Invictus Gaming.

Fy's return sparks an overjoyed wave from the Dota 2 community. He is a Dota 2 veteran known for his spectacular gameplay from his days in Vici Gaming and PSG.LGD. His consistency brought him to many close TI runs, placing Top 4 in 4 The Internationals.

  • 2nd place at The International 2014
  • 4th place at The International 2015
  • 2nd place at The International 2018
  • 3rd place at The International 2019

Despite the big title escaping his grasp, he is hailed as one of the greatest support players in the world.

His last team was Elephant which consisted of a star-studded lineup, fielding names such as Eurus, Somnus, and Yang. Fy played at TI10 with Elephant and they struggled throughout the event, placing 13th-16th. After that, he revealed that he was taking a break from the pro scene due to health reasons.

In the midst of the ongoing Stockholm Major, Invictus Gaming revealed that fy is joining the team. This would mean that Invictus Gaming's current position 4, Pan "Fade" Yi will be dropped from the lineup.

The current roster of Invictus Gaming after the addition of fy is:

  • Jin "flyfly" Zhiyi
  • Zhou "Emo" Yi
  • Thiay "JT-" Jun Wen
  • Xu "fy" Linsen
  • Chan "Oli" Chon Kien

Fy and Invictus Gaming to climb out of CN Division II

For those who didn't quite catch up with China's DPC, Invictus Gaming had a rough year so far. The Chinese region is known for its intense competition and despite a good run at TI10, Invictus Gaming found itself struggling in China's Regional League right after. It could also be due to its team captain, kaka's departure from the team.

They first dropped to Lower Division in the first season. In the next season, they barely missed the 2 promotion slots to Upper Division, placing 3rd. The decision to pick up fy can possibly help Invictus Gaming to secure a Division I slot; however, it seems like the squad won't make it to the next International.
