Peter “Stanislaw” Jarguz has decided to take a temporary break from professional competition and will not be returning to Europe for EPL Season 14. Coach Damian “daps” Steele will be taking over the IGL duties till Stanislaw returns.

Woes for EG continue as IGL Stanislaw has taken a temporary leave and will not be playing at EPL. The Canadian IGL had been a part of the roster since 2019 after replacing Daps. After winning ESL One New York in 2019, the lineup took a downturn as they cited burnout due to travel. The burnout issues seem to have returned as Stanislaw stated that he isn't "mentally ready for more international travel and competition."

Daps, who previously was this team's IGL when they played for NRG, will be stepping in as the IGL which will mark his first professional Counter-Strike game since October 2020. He has always been a low-performing IGL and the long absence from the game could mean trouble for him individually and for the roster as a whole.

While EG has had a poor run this year, they managed to secure playoffs at IEM Summer 2021 but were eliminated early from IEM Cologne. Their new pickups Michał "MICHU" Müller and Owen "oBo" Schlatter have shined but Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte's underwhelming performance has cost the team dearly.

EG's group includes teams with major roster changes in BIG and Fnatic and shaky mousesports, so a good performance from the team's stars could mean a playoffs berth. That hope seems extremely unlikely with the recent roster change, but this could mean improvements for the team long term.

Daps to stand-in during ESL Pro League

Daps was the IGL that had created the system which Stan inherited in 2019. He has, throughout his career, proven to be an IGL that has put his players in befitting strong roles and molded them into his system. If he is able to implement his system in the 5 games that EG is guaranteed to play, that could drastically turn around the fortunes of the team once Stanislaw returns after his temporary leave.

Evil Geniuses will play their first EPL game on 27 August. Watch them live on ESL's Twitch Channel.
