After another botched Major Cycle, Fnatic have decided to bring in some Danish Guns. RoeJ and Nicoodoz join Fnatic.

Copenhagen Flames' Back-to-Back Major runs were unexpected, but exciting, pieces of the game's history. While they fell short at Stockholm, they broke through at Antwerp with a solid top 8 placing. During the event itself, it was announced that the team will be fielding individual offers. The first of those moves is here as Fnatic brings the Danish duo of RoeJ and Nicoodoz into the roster.

ALEX and Poizon Out

On 19 May, it was announced that ALEX and Poizon had been benched after another Major failure. From a 3-time Major Champion, Fnatic has now failed to make the major thrice. Their last appearance at the event came at IEM Katowice 2019. Once again Fnatic has decided to shake things up, starting with the benching of trial AWPer poizon and former-Vitality/C9 IGL ALEX.

Fnatic's new hope - RoeJ and Nicoodoz

The AWP position has been a consistent struggle for the team ever since they benched JW in mid-2021. With Jackinho, Smooya, and poizon all being out of the team after middling performances. Now the hope is pinned on Denmark's top-rated AWPer. The youngster made a name for himself at the last Major and showed a similarly high level at Antwerp, making him a no-brainer pick-up.

The other signing is on the complete opposite spectrum. RoeJ is a 28-year-old entry fragger, who has been on the Danish sub-top for a few years now. Initially making a name on the Tricked-Mad Lions roster, he has been a crucial component of Copenhagen Flames' performance. As an entry he coordinates attacks with his AWPer and the duo works well in tandem.

Fnatic's Missing 5th?

With these signings Fnatic is up to 4 players:

  • Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen
  • Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi
  • William "mezii" Merriman
  • Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson

This still leaves one spot open on the roster, which Fnatic has stated is in final trials. The rumored player is Dignitas' HEAP which would leave the IGL role up for grabs in the squad. Mezii seems to be in the lead for that role as his leadership qualities were mentioned in the announcement as well.
