The biggest event of the CS2 calendar has arrived at last.

With the RMRs done, attention turnes to the main event: The CS2 Perfect World Shanghai Major starts on November 30.

Over the course of a fortnight, the 24 entering teams were whittled down to one. Who became the next CS2 Major champions?

Here's everything you need to know about the Shanghai Major.

The Perfect World Shanghai Major was a three-stage tournament:

  • Opening Stage
    • Formerly known as the Challenger Stage, 16 teams competed in a Swiss stage. All 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, and 1-1 matches were best-of-one; all elimination or progression matches were best-of-three.
    • Three wins meant a team progressed to the Elimination Stage. Three losses meant a team was eliminated.
  • Elimination Stage
    • Formerly known as the Legends Stage, the eight Opening Stage qualifiers met the eight Elimination Stage invites from the RMR qualifiers. They played out another Swiss stage identical to the Opening Stage.
    • Three wins meant a team progressed to the playoffs; three losses meant a team was eliminated.
  • Playoff Stage
    • Formerly known as the Champions Stage, the eight remaining teams played out a single-elimination bracket until one team stood above all.
    • All matches were best-of-three.

December 1 - Round 3

  • 4am: BIG 13-11 VP | MIBR 5-13 Passion UA
    • Winners proceed to 2-1 matches, losers proceed to 1-2 matches.
  • 5am: FURIA 16-14 Wildcard | paiN 13-11 C9
    • Winners proceed to 2-1 matches, losers proceed to 1-2 matches.
  • 6am:
    • Liquid 2-1 FlyQuest (5-13, 13-9, 13-1)
      • Liquid proceeds to the Elimination Stage, FlyQuest proceeds to 2-1 matches.
    • Rare Atom 2-1 Fnatic (10-13, 13-10, 13-4)
      • Rare Atom proceeds to 1-2 matches, Fnatic is eliminated.
  • 9am:
    • MongolZ 2-0 GamerLegion (13-5, 13-2)
      • MongolZ proceeds to the Elimination Stage, GamerLegion proceeds to 2-1 matches.
    • Complexity 2-0 Imperial (13-4, 13-5)
      • Complexity proceeds to 1-2 matches, Imperial is eliminated.

December 2 - Round 4

    • FlyQuest 0-2 paiN (14-16, 6-13)
      • PaiN proceeds to Elimination Stage, FlyQuest proceeds to 2-2 matches.
    • Cloud9 0-2 Complexity (13-16, 8-13)
      • Complexity proceeds to 2-2 matches, Cloud9 is eliminated.
  • 10am:
    • GamerLegion 2-1 Passion UA (13-6, 5-13, 13-9)
      • GamerLegion proceeds to Elimination Stage, Passion UA proceeds to 2-2 matches.
    • Wildcard 2-1 VP (10-13, 13-7, 13-8)
      • Wildcard proceeds to 2-2 matches, VP is eliminated.

December 3 - Round 5

  • 4am: BIG 2-1 Complexity (5-13, 13-9, 13-9)
    • BIG proceeds to Elimination Stage, Complexity is eliminated.
  • 7am: MIBR 2-0 FlyQuest (13-4, 13-5)
    • Winner proceeds to Elimination Stage, loser is eliminated.
  • 10am: Wildcard 2-1 Passion UA (13-6, 6-13, 16-13)
    • Wildcard proceeds to Elimination Stage, Passion UA is eliminated.
