FURIA signed Team Liquid’s former CS2 pro skullz on June 9, completing their roster in time for the Esports World Cup.

FURIA has completed the signing of Felipe "skullz" Medeiros from Team Liquid, the Brazilian organization announced on July 9.

Skullz's arrival is part of FURIA's overhaul for the rest of 2024. The Brazilian organization also announced that Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and Yuri "yuurih" Santos renewed their contracts for three years, and signed former FaZe Clan analysts Hunter "Lucid" Tucker and Viacheslav "innersh1ne" Britvin to assist Sid "sidde" Macedo, who earned a promotion from assistant coach to head coach.

Skullz returns to a Brazilian team after a failed stint with Liquid

Skullz is effectively replacing FURIA's academy player Kayke "kye" Bertolucci in the main lineup. The move to FURIA marks his return to an all-Brazilian project just six months after leaving paiN Gaming to join Team Liquid.

The young star didn't have the best chance to showcase his talents overseas as the Team Liquid project failed as a whole. The North American team missed PGL Copenhagen Major in March, the first Valve-sponsored event for CS2, and didn't come close to winning any tournaments. As a result of that, skullz was sold to FURIA, and the organization is still entertaining offers for Casper "cadiaN" Møller.

Overall, the swap of kye for skullz should dramatically improve FURIA for the second semester of 2024. The former Liquid player is way more experienced than kye, and has already put great numbers against some of the best teams in the world.

While FURIA's lineup looks good on paper, the question remains whether the veteran in-game leader Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo can take FURIA out of the slump and help them become the best Brazilian team once again. FURIA will have their first opportunity to impress fans on July 17, when they face Natus Vincere at the Esports World Cup debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
