FaZe will now face Team Spirit in the Shanghai Major grand finals after their victory against G2.

FaZe Clan booked their spot in the Perfect World Shanghai Major following a 2-0 victory versus G2 on Dec. 14.

FaZe entered the match against G2 as the underdogs, but they defied the odds just as they did with Vitality in the quarterfinals. Robin "ropz" Kool has found his peak form halfway through the event and the rest of the team is playing just fine.

Although many will consider Team Spirit the favorite to win the Shanghai Major grand final due to Danil "donk" Kryshkovets's form, there's no reason to rule out FaZe after what they did to G2 in the semifinals.

Ropz delivers once more and fuels FaZe in the Shanghai Major semifinals

The Estonian star has been FaZe's best player since they played FURIA, their first elimination match in the tournament. As of right now, he's the only FaZe player posing a threat to donk in the race for the Shanghai Major MVP award.

Ropz delivered 22 frags against G2 on Ancient (13-6) and didn't slow down on Nuke (16-13) whatsoever. The lurker got 28 frags on that map and dragged FaZe across the finish line when it looked like G2 would force a third map.

FaZe and ropz have extra motivation to win the Shanghai Major as they lost to NAVI in the PGL Copenhagen Major grand finals and have been in a slump throughout the entire second semester of 2024.

One of the biggest talking points after G2 lost to FaZe in the Shanghai Major grand finals was Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's supposed Major curse.

After all, the Bosnian remains the most talented player to have never won a CS:GO or CS2 Major, given all the opportunities he had with FaZe and G2 over the past years.

Additionally, NiKo will have to keep trying elsewhere as the G2's CEO already confirmed that he'll leave the organization. He's reportedly moving to Falcons for the 2025 season, which will feature a totally different lineup.

That's all for now. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more Shanghai Major news.
