MAAC Esports week six honorable mentions

Here are some honorable mentions for these Super Smash Bros. Ultimate esports events as well.

Quinnipiac University versus Manhattan College (SSBU) Feb. 21, 7 p.m. EST*

A battle for second is in the works this week as Quinnipiac University players, with a 4-1 record, face off against Manhattan College's 5-0. Manhattan College is one of the last two remaining undefeated teams in the conference. However, Quinnipiac University is looking to take the series once again as they did last fall against Manhattan College. If Quinnipiac University wins, they will secure the first seed going into playoffs. However, with Manhattan College and a tough schedule ahead, anything is possible.

Fairfield University versus Marist College (SSBU) Feb. 21, 7 p.m. EST*

Another Smash match to keep your eyes out for is the fight between Fairfield University and Marist College. Marist College, with a record of 3-4, had a rough semester. Fairfield University ended last Fall with a record of 5-4 and could use two wins to get ahead of other schools like Iona University in the overall seeding for the LAN. The last time these two schools met in the fall, Marist College took the win 18-11.

Quinnipiac University versus Iona University (OW2) Feb. 22, 7 p.m. EST*

Switching gears to Overwatch 2, there is a battle of third place happening in MAAC Esports week six. Quinnipiac University, with a record of 5-2, gets to meet up against Iona's 5-2 in what could define who stands out on top of one another in the rankings at the end of the season. Both teams have lost to the two teams tied for first place — Marist College and Mount Esports. Iona University did play the two top teams closer than Quinnipiac University, but the latter team may continue their three-game hot streak after the recent meta changes.

Rider University versus Siena College (OW2) Feb. 22, 7 p.m. EST*

Two underdogs compete against one another to end this week's preview. Rider Esports, with a record of 1-5, looks to take a win away from Siena College's 2-5 and overtake them in the standings heading into playoffs. If Rider Esports wins, then they could climb from eighth seed all the way up to sixth. Those seeds are the difference from facing a current two-loss team and a team that has nearly five to six losses. On the other side, Siena College can also climb to fifth place with different circumstances. Keep an eye out for these underdogs in MAAC Esports week six as they look to make some noise.
