Some players are having to drive 25 hours to the event.

Several top Call of Duty League stars have had issues getting to Boston for CDL Major 2. Seth "Scump" Abner and James "Clayster" Eubanks are among the players who have had problems.

The east coast of the United States is currently going through a spell of extreme cold weather. How cold it is has been affecting the flights of many of the CDL teams.

The majority of the teams in the Call of Duty League play their games in Texas, with special facilities for the best internet connections. The Las Vegas Legion do not have a facility but the players base themselves out of the Lone Star State for the same reasons.

Flights cancelled

Flights from the Dallas Fort-Worth airport in Texas have been cancelled across the last few days in the lead up to the Boston Major 2 Call of Duty League event.

Minnesota ROKKR coach Brian "Saint" Barbosa acknowledged the worry of not being able to retrieve checked luggage in time for rescheduled flights.

Most airlines require around 24 hours for luggage to be available following a cancelled or rescheduled flight. With the Major starting on Thursday, Feb. 2, this could pose a number of different issues.

New York Subliners player and Major 1 champion Paco "HyDra" Rusiewicz packed his controller in his checked luggage, meaning that he may end up having to borrow one or get a different one for when the Major starts.

These flights were cancelled because of winter weather in the Texas area. 400 flights, not just to Boston were affected by the issues. Clayster, in an act of tempting fate, posted about potential issues the day before the cancellations.

Even the broadcast staff are being affected by the issues. Clint "Maven" Evans may not travel until the day that the event is due to start.

Contingency plans

Many players have had to go through several contingency plans for getting to Boston. Challengers player Preston "Prestinni" Sanderson has driven from Dallas to Boston, travelling on the roads for more than 25 hours to get to the event.

Scump, fresh off his retirement, had to travel from Dallas to Austin in Texas to catch a different flight in order to stand a chance of getting to the event.

Scump is due to watch party the Call of Duty League Major 2 from the event itself at Fenway Park. He has had incredible success watching the online matches on his stream since taking a step back from competing in the Call of Duty League.

His streams have regularly been out performing the official Call of Duty streams for the CDL action. Streaming the first Major event since taking that step would bring lots of eyes to the league for his insight and commentary over the action.
