CleanX feels “the most confident since Cold War” after winning start to Major 2

Tobias "CleanX" Jonsson says that he and his Toronto Ultra team are feeling the confidence following their 3-1 win over Los Angeles Guerrillas.

Toronto Ultra got their Major 2 tournament off to a winning start, beating the new-look Guerrillas roster in convincing fashion. Toronto Ultra didn't look like they were losing the series at any point, even after dropping the third map in the fifth round of Control.

"The pressure is gone when you know how good you are," CleanX told Esports.gg. "Our practice has shown how good we are so the confidence is obviously there.

"They have got to hype themselves up, they are down 2-0 in the series, so I tip it. They are not used to the big stage and you’ve got to talk some trash sometimes."

Jonsson has been one of the best and quickest SMG players in the Call of Duty League since coming into the league in Modern Warfare (2019).

He's been on the Toronto Ultra team since joining them halfway through the Modern Warfare season. He was on the team that was consistently in the top two during Cold War.

"We’re very confident," CleanX added. "This is the most confident that I’ve been since Cold War after Major 2. This is the best team I’ve had by a mile and the youngest team and most confident. It just feels good."

As an SMG player, CleanX uses the Vaznev weapon in game. It allows him to be a quick and versatile player that has incredible slaying ability.

The Vaznev becomes a different level of weapon on LAN, with the lower ping allowing the quicker players to dominate when they get the chance.

Toronto Ultra, one of few teams to actually play out of the city of their franchise, regularly see pings of over 40 when playing their league matches.

"It’s way better," CleanX said. "It’s the god gun, it’s a little shotgun. I think Scrap can agree. It is 100%. I can shotgun people and it’s just not even close.

"We play out of Toronto so our ping is usually on the high end. We have LA teams where we play on like 40 ping. On LAN we play on one, so it changes the whole game.

"Honestly, I’ve been doing this for a while. I know how good the guns are. The way I play online is the same way that I try and play online. I just run at people and shotgun them."

Toronto Ultra took the series 3-1, but after the third map of the series — the only one which LAG could win — the Guerrillas let Toronto Ultra know that they were in the series with Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson and co. getting up and shouting smack towards the Toronto Ultra players. Most of it was aimed at Thomas "Scrappy" Ernst.

"They stood up and they point at me and shout at me," Scrappy told Esports.gg. "I just look back and tell them that they have to go to map four and win three maps. We had to see how they do and they got slammed back."

Scrappy is known for giving his fair share of stick towards opponents and rightly gave stick to LAG after Adam "Assault" Garcia had nine kills in map one.

"I looked at the scoreboard and the guy had nine kills and I thought that he was going to need more than that to win a map," Scrappy said "I was saying to him that he was terrible.

"We’re just doing us and showing up. We do the hard work and there is no pressure on us. We’re just here to do what we do."
