Make sure your friend is all set up.
Split Fiction is the latest co-op only title to come from Hazelight Studios, the same team behind A Way Out and It Takes Two. As was the case with those two critically acclaimed games, Split Fiction requires you to play with a single partner. While you might think this means another player has to buy the game to play with you, that's not the case. Split Fiction gives you a "Friend's Pass" that another player can use to download the game for free on their system.
If you're interested in using the Friend's Pass, check out the guide below to see exactly how it works.

How to get a Friend's Pass in Split Fiction
Any player that buys Split Fiction on one of its available platforms, PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5 is automatically given a Friend's Pass with their purchase. From here, you can send an invite to the friend you want to extend the Friend's Pass to and they are able to play with you at absolutely no cost to them.
To see the process of using the Friend's Pass in Split Fiction, follow the steps below:
- Buy Split Fiction on any platform
- Have your friend download the Split Fiction Friend's Pass from their platform's marketplace (it's free)
- Invite your friend to your game and have them accept the invite to join
- Play through Split Fiction together in a co-op party
Those are the broad strokes of getting the Friend's Pass and having a friend join your game. However, there are some finer details to go over with the pass.
Does Split Fiction have crossplay?
Fortunately, cross-play is supported with the Friend's Pass. This means you can invite any person who has downloaded the Friend's Pass, regardless of what platform you're on and what platform they're on. You can invite a friend on PC while being on PlayStation 5 and vice versa.
The Friend's Pass is available to download for free on any system, so just make sure your friend downloads it to get the process started.
