Split Fiction is a co-op exclusive game, meaning you're required to play with a partner. If you decide to play with a friend who's on another system, you'll have to both have active EA accounts and be online at all times when playing with each other. However, Split Fiction also allows for offline, local couch co-op, which allows you to play with a partner on the same system as you.

Setting up couch co-op in Split Fiction
Fortunately, the process of getting couch co-op set up in Split Fiction is extremely simple. All you have to do is follow the quick steps below to get you and a partner playing on the same system:
- Launch Split Fiction and go to the main menu
- Press the "Local" option on the menu
- This brings you to a screen that shows two different sides, with either side representing the two players
- The primary player needs to press A/X/Enter depending on your input device, which will make the left side of the screen brighter
- Then, the secondary player needs to do the exact same on their device, turning the right side of the screen brighter
- Once both sides of the screen are lit up, proceed with the instructions on screen and both players will start the game together
It's an extremely easy process that goes off without a hitch as long as your input devices are set up correctly. Split Fiction recommends controllers while playing, but if you're on PC, we suggest one player use a keyboard and mouse while the other uses a controller.
Of course, if you both prefer controllers, then use two of whatever controller is supported by your marketplace. Steam and Ubisoft Connect both only accept certain types of controllers, so make sure yours is supported or else you won't be able to use it in Split Fiction. You also need to make sure both controllers are plugged in correctly to your PC, whether that's through a wired connection or wireless.
For those of you on console, you have nothing to worry about. Just plug your two controllers in and you're good to go.
