Split Fiction offers a wide array of features, but can you take advantage of cross-platform play to join friends on any system?
Split Fiction is the first game release during a busy March 2025, and it's already looking like a Game of the Year contender. The third co-op exclusive game from Hazelight Studios looks to be its Magnum Opus, somehow improving upon previous Game of the Year winner It Takes Two. While It Takes Two is a fantastic game in its own right, one of the knocks on it is it doesn't offer cross-platform play. Many fans are wondering if Split Fiction will follow the same route or if it will finally offer cross-play support.
In the guide below, we'll answer that burning question and explain a little bit more about cross-play.

Is Split Fiction cross-play?
Fortunately for all fans, Split Fiction does fully support cross-play, and it's coming to all platforms when it launches on March 6. This is a huge sigh of relief for many fans who couldn't play It Takes Two with some friends due to the lack of cross-play support. Hazelight Studios has ensured this time around that everyone can play Split Fiction with whomever they want.
Split Fiction is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 at launch. Regardless of you and another person's platform difference, you can use cross-play to play the game with them. So even if you're on PC and a friend is on PlayStation 5 or you're on PlayStation 5 and a friend is on Xbox, you can play with them.
To make matters easier, only one of you needs to own Split Fiction. Once one person owns the game, they receive a Friend's Pass, which they can use to invite someone to their game even if they don't own it personally. So, one person is essentially playing the game for free. We did a more detailed guide on the Friend's Pass if you're interested in taking advantage of that.
For cross-play specifically, you don't need to do anything to make use of the feature. However, if you're on Xbox, double-check your console's Privacy Settings to ensure you have cross-play support enabled. In Split Fiction, you can also enable and disable cross-play through the Options menu, so ensure that it's enabled before trying to play with a player on a different platform.

Finally, if you want to use the cross-play feature, you just need to make sure you and your chosen friend both have active EA accounts. This is the way you're able to add friends on different platforms to invite them to your game. Once you both have EA accounts, link them to your system and then go into Split Fiction to find the EA Friends List. Add your friend from there, invite them to your game, and off you go.
That's all there is to know about cross-play in Split Fiction. It's incredibly easy to use and doesn't require you to do anything except add a friend through EA.
