Cathan is missing, but where can you find him in the mystery blue door?
The first primary quest you'll start in RuneScape: Dragonwilds is called "Dragon Slayer," and it's given to you by the Wise Old Man. The Wise Old Man wants you to help track down an adventurer by the name of Cathan, who has apparently gone missing in search of dragons that plague the island of Ashenfall. One of your first stops in the journey to find Cathan is a mysterious blue door that can be found in the swamps of RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
However, the blue door isn't the easiest location to find, and even once you're inside, Cathan is a difficult character to track down. To progress the Dragon Slayer quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, check out the guide below to see where to find Cathan and enter the blue door.
How to find the blue door in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

You get the blue door objective in the Dragon Slayer quest after storming the Goblin Castle in northern Bramblemead Valley. The Wise Old Man marks the blue door's location for you after speaking with him, and the location is northeast of your current position. It lies somewhere in the Whispering Swamp, which is a large, dark, and murky part of the RuneScape: Dragonwilds map.
When you arrive at Whispering Swamp, follow the quest zone on your map to reach an area full of water with some small plots of land scattered around. The blue door you're looking for is actually the entrance to a vault (or dungeon, as they're commonly called). You can find the blue door entrance on the northeastern side of the quest zone, as seen in the map screenshot below.

If you go to where my character arrow is on the map above, you'll find the blue door, which you can enter by interacting with it.

Once you're inside the vault, you need to head up a small hill and straight into a small room that has another blue door. This blue door can't be opened, though, so head to the left to enter a series of hallways with death traps around every corner.
You need to keep following these hallways and dodging the death traps until you reach a large room with water and several Vault Guardian enemies. These enemies can be fairly difficult to take down, but you can also try running past them. If you die in the vault, your gravestone spawns just outside the vault where the blue door is, so it's not a huge hassle to come back, retrieve your loot, and try the vault again.
Once you make it past the Vault Guardians one way or the other, head up the stairs and go through the door at the top of the room. Head through more hallways until you find a blue-lit room with a lever in the center of it and a goblin on the ground. Speak to the goblin, whose name is Spitfoot, and he'll tell you that Cathan actually left to explore another area.

This is the sequence you need to trigger to progress the Dragon Slayer quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Cathan can't actually be found in the vault, but you now know where he went, so you can return to the Wise Old Man to receive a new objective.
To get out of the room with Spitfoot, pull the lever, and you'll be back near the entrance to the vault. Before you leave, though, go back to the room that had the locked blue door. You'll now see it has opened, and you can enter.
Inside the new room, there are two Giant Rats and a large Rat King enemy that you need to kill. Once they're dead, go to the back of the room and loot the Vault Core that's sitting on a small pedestal. You can also loot a chest on the back wall. The Vault Core is required to unlock the recipe and craft the Lodestone, which allows you to fast travel in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

You're now done with this particular vault, so head back to the Wise Old Man in Bramblemead Valley, tell him about Cathan, and proceed with the Dragon Slayer quest.
Before you head out, though, the Wise Old Man gives you some ingredients to brew Potions with. However, he doesn't explain how to do that. Fortunately, we have a full guide on how to brew Potions and the different Potions you can make in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
