Oak Trees are a whole other monster in Dragonwilds.

During the early part of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you'll come across an entire forest of Ash Trees. These are the default trees in the game, and they produce Ash Logs, which you need for a whole flurry of crafting recipes and base building materials. However, as you progress and explore more of Ashenfall, you might discover Oak Trees in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

These are the more advanced versions of Ash Trees, and they produce Oak Logs, which are used for more advanced crafting recipes. Of course, Oak Trees also require you to have a better logging axe and a higher Woodcutting skill level before you can chop them down and harvest the logs. So, where do you get a better axe so you can chop down the Oak Trees in RuneScape: Dragonwilds?

The only way to chop down an Oak Tree in Dragonwilds is to use a Bronze Axe. Unlike the mining pickaxe, there is no "Bone" option for logging axes, so you have to go straight from a Stone Logging Axe to a Bronze one.

Of course, this means you'll have to progress quite a ways in Dragonwilds, as bronze is one of the later-game materials that you'll come across. Specifically, you need to reach the Fractured Plains region of the map, which is located directly north of the Whispering Swamp. In Fractured Plains, you can find veins of Copper and Tin Ore, which you can mine and then bring back to your base.

With your Copper and Tin Ore, you need to place both of them inside a Furnace, which is unlocked after you mine Clay for the first time. The recipe for a Furnace in Dragonwilds contains the following resources:

  • x24 Stone
  • x8 Clay
  • x4 Charcoal
  • x10 Fire Runes
  • x8 Vault Shards

Charcoal can be obtained by using Ash Logs inside a Kiln while Vault Shards are acquired by killing Vault Guardian enemies inside the vaults located around Dragonwilds, similar to the one where Cathan is located.

Once you have the Furnace built, place Copper and Tin Ore in the top two slots of the menu and then place Charcoal in the middle slot. This produces Bronze Bars, which you can then use to make a Bronze Logging Axe.

All Bronze tools are made at a Smithing Forge, which you can build after smelting your first Bronze Bar. At a Smithing Forge, you can craft a Bronze Logging Axe with the following resources:

With your new Bronze Logging Axe, you can now chop down Oak Trees or even use the Axtral Projection spell to knock them down in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
