Should I choose Sierra or Spark path in Holiday Part 1 Pokémon GO Research

Make your choice between the two Holiday Part 1 Paths in Pokémon GO.

The Pokémon GO Holiday Part 1 event is here, and every single Trainer gets access to a Free Timed Research during the event. After you complete the first page, you are presented with two different paths, one with Spark and one with Leader Sierra. So, which Holiday Part 1 path should you choose?

On the face of it, this is a weird choice. One of the three team leaders and a Team GO Rocket leader? What can this choice possibly mean! We've broken down every Research Quest in each of the two paths, so you can make an informed choice about which to pick.

Which path should I choose in the Holiday Part 1 research?

Overall, there are a couple of differences between the Spark and Leader Sierra paths in the Holiday Part 1 free Timed Research. Here are the major differences.

The Spark Path:

  • An encounter with Alolan Vulpix
  • Tasks focused on catching and powering up Ice-type Pokémon

The Leader Sierra Path:

  • An encounter with Shadow Vulpix
  • Tasks focused on catching and powering up Fire-type Pokémon

In summary, there aren't many differences. To be honest, neither Alolan or Shadow Vulpix pull up many trees. The most expensive tasks are always powering up Pokémon.

So, if you have a Fire or Ice-type Pokémon you actually want to invest some Stardust into that should be what makes your decision. Perhaps you have a great Mamoswine from GO Wild Area? Or a Gigantamax Lapras? Choose the Spark path. Got a great Gigantamax Charizard, or what about a Shadow Heatran from Giovanni? Choose the Leader Sierra path.
