7 km Eggs are a bit unique in Pokémon GO, so here’s everything you need to know about them.

7 km Eggs are a staple in Pokémon GO, often featured in events with special Pokémon inside. This includes events like the current Pokémon Horizons Celebration event, but it also includes major in-person events like Pokémon GO Fest and Pokémon GO Safari Zones.

While there isn't much difference between Eggs in Pokémon GO, 7 km Eggs have some unique quirks you need to understand in order to obtain them. There are even two different types of 7 km Eggs!

So, we've gathered everything you need to know about 7 km Eggs, including how to get them and what they can contain.

How do you get 7 km Eggs in Pokémon GO?

The only way to get 7 km Eggs in Pokémon GO is by opening Gifts. These don't always give you a 7 km Egg, but do most of the time. However, like with 2 km, 5 km and 10 km Eggs you'll need to make sure you actually have space in your Egg storage.

7 km Eggs will not fill the extra 3 slots, so you will need to have space in your main storage to be able to get them. Because you are limited in how many Gifts you can open per day, don't waste them by opening them with no slots avaliable if you are hunting 7 km Eggs. Sometimes this limit is adjusted with tickets or as an event bonus, but it is never unlimited.

We mentioned before there are two types of 7 km Eggs in the game. The second sort comes from Gifts - but from Matteo. You can encounter Matteo at the end of a Route. Swap a gift with him, and you can get a special 7 km Egg from him. During an event, these 7 km Eggs will not have special Pokémon inside of them like other 7 km Eggs.

What rewards do you get from 7 km Eggs?

7 km Eggs usually have special regional variants of Pokémon inside them. For the current Might and Mastery Season, this is:

  • Alolan Meowth
  • Galarian Meowth
  • Alolan Grimer
  • Hisuian Voltorb
  • Hisuian Qwilfish
  • Galarian Corsola
  • Galarian Darumaka

This 7km Egg Pool is changed for big events. For example, during the recent City Safari Events, you could get event specific Pokémon including Mudbray. Or, during Pokémon GO Fest 2024, the four new shiny debuts were in Eggs along with other special Pokémon from the event.

Pokémon GO City Safari is one of the events to change what is inside Eggs.

Of course, you don't just get a 'mon from 7 km Eggs. When you hatch a 7 km Egg in Pokémon GO, you'll also get your hands on 1000 XP and between 800 to 1600 Stardust.
