Owning a horse in Oblivion Remastered allows you to escape those pesky wolves and opportunistic bandits on the road.

Don’t have any gold to spare for a mount? Here’s an easy way to get a horse in Oblivion Remastered for new players.

The moment you exit the sewers and you’re on your way to Weynon Priory to see Jauffre, you’ll need to cross a stretch of land before you can get to your destination. While you can definitely arrive there by foot, it’s still an advantage if you’re hitting the roads on horseback, as there are animals and NPCs that could catch you off-guard.

And for players who set the game’s difficulty to expert and master, encountering enemies with trash weapons and armor from the sewers means trouble since you get to receive more damage in combat. So, to help you get away from any potential danger, there’s a particular location that you should visit before leaving Imperial City.

To acquire your first horse in Oblivion Remastered, you need to talk to an orc named Snak gra-Bura in the Chestnut Handy Stables outside of Imperial City.

To get there, make your way inside Imperial City and go to the Talos Plaza District. Exit the city through the western gate, and you should find the stables on the right.

Enter the stables and initiate a conversation with Snak gra-Bura. She’ll tell you that the stables don’t sell horses anymore. If you can beg her nicely by answering that you can take any horse available, she’ll give you her old nag, a steed with terrible running speed but helpful enough to get you through any location faster.

Tip: Press the sprint button (Shift + left for PC and pressing the left stick for Xbox) to make your horse run faster.

Other locations in Cyrodiil are also home to other stables that offer a particular horse breed. These horses might cost a lot in the early game, so you’ll need to make do with your old nag in the meantime until you can afford them.

Worried about losing your mount if you go somewhere else? In Oblivion Remastered, you don’t need to call your horse since you can always access it by visiting a stable. Even if you fast-travel to another location, your steed will always arrive with you at your destination.
