Here is everything you need to know about Nitro Splashes in Fortnite, including where to find them!

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is off and running after weeks of teasers. Epic Games did not shy away from new content this season, introducing new vehicle mods, weapons, Medallions, and more. However, nothing is more intriguing than the new “Nitro” mechanic. Today, we’ll explain how this works and where to find Nitro Splashes in Fortnite to try it out.

Where to find Nitro Splashes in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3

You can find Nitro Splashes in regular Chests, on the ground, Epic Chests, Ammo Boxes, and more. The Peabody non-player character (NPC) also sells Nitro Splashes. Nitro Barrels and Hoops are available around the map, offering the same benefits as a Nitro Splash.

Now that you know where to find Nitro items, here’s how the mechanic works. This information will be imperative to your success this season.

What is Nitro? New mechanic explained

The Nitro mechanic benefits yourself and your vehicle, making it essential to master this season. Found in a Nitro Barrel and Nitro Splash, you can use either of these two Fortnite items to cover yourself in Nitro.

Here’s a breakdown of how Nitro affects players and vehicles:

Vehicles

  • Driving speed increase
  • Explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback (must be driving at a sufficient speed)
  • Fuel consumption decrease
  • Buff to attached attack mods

Players

  • Movement speed increase
  • Explosive bashing power that deals damage and knockback… Bust through builds! (must be moving at a sufficient speed)
  • Stamina consumption decrease (Sprint longer!)
  • Reload speed increase
  • Fall damage immunity

The Nitro mechanic is unquestionably a unique addition to Fortnite. However, some players have pointed out how easily it can be abused. Whether Epic will nerf the ability to charge through Wood and Brick structures remains to be seen, so we’ll have to wait and see.
