How to get Strange Coins in Destiny 2

Each week, Destiny 2 players flock in droves to the Tower to visit Xur, our curious contact at the Nine. Xur brings with him his weekly shop which comes packed with Exotic weapons and armor, unique Legendary rolls, and resources like Ascendant Shards and Enhancement Prisms.

However, buying anything from Xur's shop costs you Strange Coins, which don't come for free in Destiny 2. Here's how to get your hands on Strange Coins and the best way to farm plenty of them!

Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities are the main ways to earn Strange Coins in Destiny 2. Each week, one of these activities will receive boosted item drops, so it's recommended you play those activities if you just want Strange Coins.

Be sure to pick up your Favor of the Nine buff which you can earn by spending 47 Strange Coins at Xur's shop each weekend. The buff grants bonus Strange Coins on activity completion and can be stacked. The buff lasts the full week which gives you plenty of time to farm Strange Coins.

We recommend buying the Exotic class item for your subclass with curated random rolls if you've finished The Final Shape. Then, you can pick up some of the Strange Material Offers to round out your 47 spent coins.

If you can't buy the class item, pick up another Exotic armor piece for your subclass, then load up on all the materials — it all adds up in the end! Finally, pick up your Favor of the Nine and head back into the activities to collect more Strange Coins.
