Netting point-blank kills in MW2 is as easy as it sounds. Get close to your enemy, fire your weapon, and you’ll have a point-blank kill.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has loads of challenges for players to take on. There are daily challenges that grant you XP, bonus challenges after completing all of the daily ones, and challenges to unlock weapon camos. Those that requires point-blank kills in MW2 seem to be stumping some people. If you aren't sure how to accomplish that feat, just know that you'll need to be within five meters of an enemy for it to count. It is as simple as that.

What is a point-blank kill in MW2?

The type of kill needed for the challenge in question comes from the term point-blank range. This term defines the distance between a shooter and a target. It originally described any distance where the shooter did not have to account for bullet drop.

It has since changed to essentially mean any close range contact. Thus, you'll need to get up close and personal with the opposition in MW2. A kill obtained from a target more than five meters away will not be considered a point-blank kill. You might need to get creative.

If you are having trouble getting your kills to count as point-blank ones in MW2, use these tips to make it a bit easier:

  • Select a Class with the weapon you want to get point-blank kills with
  • Use a powerful shotgun or SMG for any non-weapon specific point-blank challenges
  • Use the Dead Silence Field Upgrade to quiet your footsteps while approaching an enemy
  • Flank wide around the opposing team to get close behind them and fire away
  • If flanking is not an option, you'll need to camp
  • Play modes like Hardpoint or Headquarters that forces players into small spaces
  • Sit around a corner or in a doorway near the objective and shoot any opponent that walks by
  • Move to a new location every so often so enemies can't predict where you are

If the other team gets upset that you're camping, don't fret. It is a part of the game and you need to do what you can to get your point-blank kills in MW2. Once you obtain one, words notifying you as such will appear on-screen.
