One of the most annoying bugs in Black Ops 6 features a black screen popping up at the start of every match.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has its fair share of bugs and glitches in the early going, as expected. Most of them are relatively harmless and don't need to be manually fixed by the player. However, this rule doesn't apply to the black screen error many players have received in Black Ops 6 multiplayer.

The black screen error is extremely annoying, as it doesn't go away even if you back out of the match where it occurs. Fortunately, there's a simple fix to the black screen error that will get players back up and running until it happens again.

What is the black screen error?

Simply put, the black screen error is when you load into a multiplayer match and you're presented with a blank screen. You can view your loadouts, exit the match, and even hear yourself shooting your gun, walking, and doing everything else in multiplayer.

However, despite your ability to hear everything and view the menus, you can't see any gameplay. This doesn't go away until you leave the match. Unfortunately, if you try to find another match, the same thing will happen, essentially making multiplayer impossible to play.

Fix for the black screen error in Black Ops 6

At the time of writing, there's only one known fix for the black screen error. The fix is to exit your application, restart it, and search for another match in Black Ops 6 multiplayer.

That's right. The only fix for the black screen of death is to restart your game. If you don't restart the application, every time you load into a match, you'll be faced with a black screen. It's unclear why this is occurring, but the developers at Treyarch have been great about fixing glitches quickly so far in Black Ops 6. Hopefully, the developers find a way to solve this pesky error sooner rather than later so players don't have to worry about restarting their game every hour or so.

The black screen error isn't the only bug in Black Ops 6, and we've covered other errors such as the Travis-Rilea error and Dev Error 5820. As long as you follow our guides, bugs won't be able to stop you from playing Black Ops 6.
