The best loadout for the Basilisk handgun in MW2 turns it into a short-ranged nightmare with Snakeshot ammo and Akimbo dual-wield.

There are quite a few handguns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that act as reliable sidearms. You can pull them out when your AR or SMG is low on ammo and finish the job. With the best Basilisk loadout in MW2, however, you can take that secondary weapon and give it the power of a primary.

If you want to decimate your opponents with the Basilisk in MW2, you'll have to unlock it first. There's no lengthy grind through a Weapon Platform to get your hands on it. You just simply need to play and reach the right rank.

When you arrive at Military Rank 39, the Basilisk will be added to your arsenal. From there, you can start the camo grind to unlock all of its weapon skins and level the gun up itself to make sure you have every attachment you need for its best loadout.

Add the following five attachments to the Basilisk handgun to create its best loadout in MW2:

  • Barrel: 10.5" FTAC Arrow
  • Laser: REVO-LSD 7MW
  • Trigger Action: Bryson HTA
  • Ammunition: .500 Snakeshot
  • Rear Grip: Akimbo Basilisk

This is an absolutely deadly loadout for what is already a powerful handgun. For negative impacts, you'll notice a drop in handling and range. That happens with the Akimbo attachment. Dual-wielding weapons in MW2 removes the ability to ADS.

Thankfully, you won't need to aim down long ranges with the Basilisk. Instead, you'll be running and gunning through close quarters. The Snakeshot ammo turns each gun into a mini shotgun of shorts. You've got two of them, allowing you to dish out insane amounts of damage in no time at all.
